the Voices
I'm currently working on a pet project, and with finding the right voice.
I 'm trying to come up with the right metaphor for blending, or mixing down or cross-fading, differnt writng styles.
The example was getting a sandwich.
Jack Kirby, Stan Lee Warren Ellis, Mark Millar were some of my examples:
Jack would lead with either a verb or a very aggresive adverb
Stan would wind around a few more descriptives
Mark Millar would take 3 or 4 issues to show the conflicting desires nad motivations behind the getting of the sandwich and the selection of the ingredients, with the action taking place in 4-5 page.
Warren Ellis, (at least in NextWave) would have the sandwich set in the middle of a death house full of the most absurd devices, like Buzzsaw - bellied roosters defending it.
i guess it is not what you say, but how you say it.
